Literacy Awareness

Donald Miller once said “In the age of information, ignorance is a choice”. The world is constantly changing so as technology. In today’s generation we experience high technology gadgets that are efficient to use, Internet is one of the technologies that make our life as a student easier. Back when I was still a kid, I always been into social media especially games. Social media or the internet made every kid just like me excited because there is a lot of fun in social media. I always think social media as a comfort zone because we can really express ourselves through posting pictures in Facebook or other social media sites. As I grow older, I slowly realized how social media changed into something that I cannot imagine. I experienced being bribed by other people just because I trusted social media a lot and that really disappointed me.

Social media is a good thing if your agenda is to communicate, express your feelings, learn something and to have fun. We cannot deny that high- technology helps us to lessen our workloads and it makes all the things easier. Well yes, it’s a very good thing if we used it in moderate not just we all depend now to the internet, while we didn’t notice we’re already practicing unhealthy living. Mostly of the people right now are using social media to take advantage to people that are weak, they spread fake news, scam other people and to bully. Let’s spread awareness and be information literate enough to prevent this from happening again.

I just wanted to express my thoughts and appreciation about the subject Media and Information Literacy because,it means a lot to me. I can say that Media and information literacy really helps me to become what I am right now. I’ve learned a lot and I was able to realize a lot of things. Media and Information Literacy does not just focuses on teaching about the social media or any types of high- technology, right know it also covers proper teaching of how to get the right information, be literate enough about all the things that surrounds you. It also teaches us how to verify information and recognize other points of view. Information literacy also teaches us how to recognize the credibility of Information. It is also essential nowadays to life of every human being because of the efficiency of its lesson that really helps me to become what I am right now.

Media information literacy is very important because, in our society today we can’t avoid getting wrong information especially on social media. Just like what I’ve encountered when I was still illiterate. Gladly, when I studied Media and Information Literacy I’ve learned many things; I came up with a realization and let’s just say I’m already literate enough. Knowing that I can recognize and can disintegrate information that those are significant to me and I already knew how to use the technology appropriately. That clearly shows how Media and Information Literacy changed and create big impact on my life because without this, it’s very difficult to survive in this changing society.

Introduce Yourself (Example Post)

This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.

Why do this?

  • Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
  • Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.

The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.

To help you get started, here are a few questions:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
